“He taught me the Art of Pass Rush, how to look at the Offensive Lineman’s Hands and be more in control,” says Haynesworth “You can set a guy up, and bust a move. Its a game of Chess, really, and he’ll teach you that” Albert Haynesworth, All Pro 2007
“I started working with Chuck for the 2016 NFL Combine, for eight weeks he helped me improve coverage, Pass Rush, how to study film, how to be a pro. I have worked with him my 1st 2 years as a Atlanta Falcon to improve my game” De’Vondre Campbell, Atlanta Falcons
“I been training with Chuck since I was at Missouri, he believed in me, helped me before the draft, and now while I’m in the NFL, his system works, he gets you Sacks!” Markus Golden, Arizona Cardinals
“He’s broken pass rushing down to a science,” Miller said. “Chuck has been such a huge influence on my game. He’s not just a coach. He played the game and he sees it like that.”
“He gave me a different perspective on what I was doing,” Miller said. “I didn’t know what I was doing. I would go off my natural ability. Chuck is such a technician.”
At the time, Miller said, he believed he had pass rushing down to an art. He told Smith as much in this exchange:
“Chuck, I am the Michael Jordan of this,” Miller told Smith.
Smith’s retort: “I am your Phil Jackson.”
“We just clicked after that,” Von Miller said.
Von Miller, Denver Broncos
“We traveled to Atlanta to train with Chuck Smith in the Lab, I was in the 11th grade and Ryan was in the 10th. We both played at Bellevue High School in Seattle, Washington. Ryan played his senior season At IMG in Florida. Chuck’s System has really taken our Pass Rush to the next level. We have worked with Chuck and traveled to several States to train under Chuck, he’s a great dude and trainer” Shane Bowman, Washington Huskies
The top minds of Pass Rush attend Von Millers Pass Rush Summitt.
Miller put it out there early in 2017 that he only wanted players to work with Footballs Top Pass Rush Specialist Guru Chuck Smith and the best pass rushers in the game in the offseason. And the final break between the offseason program and training camp provided that opportunity.
Also in attendance were former NFL defensive end and pass rushing guru, Chuck Smith; Dallas Cowboys defensive end Damontre Moore; Denver Broncos linebacker Shane Ray; New York Giants defensive lineman Olivier Vernon; Falcons Vic Beasley, Oakland Raiders defensive end Khalil Mack; and San Francisco 49ers defensive end Arik Armstead.
Not content to work with just one former NFL defensive standout (defensive line coach Clyde Simmons), the Cleveland Browns have brought in another to help with the precocious pass rushers in training camp.
Chuck Smith announced on his Instagram feed he will help out in Cleveland’s training camp. Smith spent much of the 1990s terrorizing quarterbacks for the Atlanta Falcons. He bagged 58.5 sacks, including a three-year stretch where he notched 30.5. Recently he developed a specialized training academy and program for defensive linemen in Atlanta.
He has consulted with several teams recently, notably the Cincinnati Bengals. Smith brings infectious energy but also a tough-love attitude while he works on refining technique and body training.
“Chuck helped me get my hands right for that 3rd and 8! I am thankful to have worked with Chuck, I learned his system in 2 weeks preparing for the NFL Combine, I still use today! Chuck really was the difference, helped me he’s the best Pass Rush Specialist in the biz” Aaron Donald, L.A Rams
