“He taught me the Art of Pass Rush, how to look at the Offensive Lineman’s Hands and be more in control,” says Haynesworth “You can set a guy up, and bust a move. Its a game of Chess, really, and he’ll teach you that” Albert Haynesworth, All Pro 2007
Coming out of The University of Georgia, most people wouldn’t have known me as an NFL caliber player. I was a student in Chuck’s first Defensive Line class, and we were a group of hardworking go getters. Chuck pushed us to the limit every single day, and that’s no exaggeration. He gave us knowledge and history of the game from all perspectives. He fully prepared me for the NFL combine and to play for 7 years at the next level. Chuck has been a great mentor throughout my career, on and off the field. I really appreciate him for being in my life and I can truly say I thank God that he helped me to achieve my dreams.
He really just helped me understand,” Jenkins said. “You have to really learn pass rush. And I never really was taught pass rush at any level, from high school on up. I didn’t realize how much I was missing until I started working with Chuck.
“He really broke everything down for me — reasons why to do this move, situations where this move will work, situations where this move wouldn’t work. He just sort of helped me understand pass rush, and understand my body movements and just different ways you can use your move. It just helped me understand when I should use a move and when I shouldn’t.”
Chuck Smith is amazing,” Campbell said. “I worked with him pre-draft. Once I got here I found I wouldn’t really be doing too much on the line of scrimmage stuff so I stopped working with him a little bit.
“But this past offseason, once I found out was playing (strongside linebacker) again, I started back working with Chuck. He’s an amazing guy. He’s helped me out so much.”
“We traveled to Atlanta to train with Chuck Smith in the Lab, I was in the 11th grade and Ryan was in the 10th. We both played at Bellevue High School in Seattle, Washington. Ryan played his senior season At IMG in Florida. Chuck’s System has really taken our Pass Rush to the next level. We have worked with Chuck and traveled to several States to train under Chuck, he’s a great dude and trainer” Shane Bowman, Washington Huskies
“It’s been great having Chuck as a Pass Rush consultant for the Bengals the last four years, he came in on a mission to helped us improve our Pass Rush, and we did, he’s the best Pass Rush Coach in Football, no doubt” Carlos Dunlap, Cincinnati Bengals
Man when I came to the Lab at GATA and trained with Chuck Smith, the first thing I said after the 1st session “I wish I had started as a Rookie!” We been going hard core training for 3 years, I improved my Pass Rush, and added the Spin in my repertoire, I believe in Chuck and would recommend anyone who wants Sacks and improve hands, head fakes, chops, better get at him.
Erik Walden never had double-digit sacks in his 10-year career heading into 2016. He spent last year working with Smith and had a career-best 10 for the Colts at the age of 31.
I have known Chuck Smith in a variety of capacities for many years. I coached Chuck in Junior College as well as at the University of Tennessee. In addition, I have worked with players he has trained and can attest as to how well prepared they are to play in the NFL.
Chuck is a man of high integrity, his work ethic is unparalleled and he has a very strong passion for what he does. He is extremely professional and has an excellent rapport with people of all ages. In summary, it is without hesitation that I recommend Chuck for any position or endeavor that he may seek to pursue.
